POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Director of Sleep Center oversees the operational, administrative, and strategic aspects of a sleep center including Durable Medical Equipment (DME) operations. This role involves leadership, management, and coordination of resources and clinical and administrative staff, ensuring that the clinic runs efficiently while meeting clinical, financial, and regulatory standards. The Director of Sleep Center is focused on administrative leadership, business development, and operational strategy. This role requires an understanding of sleep medicine to ensure the efficient provision, maintenance, and compliance of medical equipment.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years DME experience required. Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • License/Certificates:
    • N/A
  • Special Skills and Aptitudes:
      • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills. 
      • Deep understanding of DME processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
      • Familiarity with insurance billing, coding, and reimbursement processes for DME.
      • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, vendors, and insurance providers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operational Leadership:
      1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sleep clinic, ensuring smooth delivery of services and optimal performance.
      2. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to enhance clinic performance and meet regulatory requirements.
      3. Monitor the clinic's workflow to ensure timely and effective care coordination and patient satisfaction
  • Staff Management and Development:
      1.  Lead, supervise, and manage clinical and administrative staff, including sleep technologists, and support personnel.
      2. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide professional development opportunities, and facilitate training programs. 
      3. Maintain staffing levels in alignment with clinic needs and budget constraints.
  • Financial Management, Billing and Insurance Coordination:
      1. Oversee billing processes for DME products and services, ensuring correct coding, timely submission of claims, and prompt follow-up on denials. 
      2. Collaborate with insurance companies to verify coverage and resolve any billing or claims issues.
      3. Monitor and manage the clinic's financial performance, with an emphasis on ensuring that DME-related services are financially sustainable.
      4. Manage the clinic's budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support the clinic's operations and growth.
      5. Monitor and analyze financial performance, adjusting strategies as needed to meet clinic revenue goals.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management:
      1. Build and maintain relationships with DME suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage inventory, and secure competitive pricing.
      2. Monitor vendor performance, ensuring high-quality equipment and timely delivery of products.
      3. Evaluate new DME products and technologies to determine their suitability for the clinic and its patients.
  • Compliance, Quality Assurance and Patient Satisfaction:
      1. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing sleep medicine and healthcare delivery.
      2. Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, patient outcomes, and overall clinic performance.
      3. Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure the clinic maintains accreditation, certifications, and quality standards.
      4. Oversee the quality assurance processes related to DME provision, ensuring that patients receive high-quality products and services. 
      5. Collect and analyze feedback from patients and providers to continually improve the clinic's DME offerings and overall service.
      6. Work with the clinic's customer service team to address any patient concerns related to equipment, deliveries, or service issues.
  • Strategic Planning and Growth:
      1. Collaborate with leadership to develop long-term strategies for clinic growth, including expanding services, optimizing operations, and increasing patient access.
      2. Participate in the clinic's strategic planning efforts, contributing to the development of short- and long-term goals for clinic growth and DME program expansion. 
      3. Identify opportunities for improving clinic operations, expanding service offerings, and increasing patient access to sleep therapies and equipment.
      4. Monitor industry trends, new DME technologies, and emerging sleep disorder treatments to ensure the clinic stays competitive and offers the best available care and equipment.
  • Technology and Equipment Management:
      1. Ensure the clinic's diagnostic equipment and technology are maintained, up-to-date, and functioning properly.
      2. Work with vendors and IT departments to manage software and hardware tools used in patient assessments and treatment planning.
  • Quality Improvement:
      1. Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and streamline operations.
      2. Track and report key performance metrics such as patient outcomes, study accuracy, and patient wait times.
      3. Stay updated on industry trends, integrating new techniques or technology as appropriate.
