Description: We are seeking a compassionate and independent problem solver to join our collaborative team as an athletic trainer. This essential role involves working with internal and external stakeholders to meet our patients' needs. The ideal candidate will work independently while demonstrating leadership qualities and collaborating with others in sports at school athletic events and clinical environments. This role is vital in working with one of our local high schools and Central Lakes Community College athletes by providing evaluation and assessment, education, treatment, consultation, and referrals as needed. We have an excellent care team available to offer support and to consult with including an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine doctor.

Qualifications:

• NATA board certification (BOC) required upon hire.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Special Skills:

• Demonstrate a collaborative attitude to improving service delivery by building relationships with student athletes, schools, staff, and providers that optimize training programs for injury prevention and performance enhancement.
• Effectively and efficiently manage time between several tasks while ensuring athletes receive quality care and injuries are tracked and documented appropriately.

• Employ excellent problem-solving skills and a creative approach to enhancing services to meet patient needs.
• Empathy, understanding and sensitivity when interacting with others, and ability to exert authority and conviction when needed.
• Demonstrate the self-awareness and resilience necessary to manage stressful situations to provide first aid and emergency care for athletic injuries.

• Engage in positive representation of CRMC at school athletic and community events.

Specific Responsibilities & Skills:

• Attend athletic events to provide on-site care for student athletes.
• Conduct athlete intake assessments to recognize and/or treat sprains, strains, and fractures.
• Design rehabilitation treatment and training programs for athletes.
• Assess athletes' status in response to treatment plan and modify programs as appropriate based on severity of injury.
• Participate in community outreach and support by participating in select educational programs related to sports medicine.
• Collaborate with physicians as needed for further diagnosis and treatment plans.

Site Description:

Crosby-Ironton is a city of 3,000 residents and is part of the Brainerd and Cuyuna Lakes Area in central Minnesota which has become a top 5 destination in the United States for mountain biking.  Crosby is just 15 miles from Brainerd, MN, and 2 hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. The Brainerd Regional Airport, which is serviced by Delta Airlines, is located 11 miles from Crosby.  We are within a 2 ½ -hour radius of Alexandria, Duluth, and St. Cloud.
