Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A

Location: Laval, QC (4204 boulevard Industriel, H7L 0E3)

Hybrid work: 3 days at the office and 2 days remotely

Type of employment:  Permanent, Full Time (40 hours)

THE ROLE

The position will be part of the Global Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team providing financial support to assigned Global Functional Groups (FG).  Reporting to the Senior FP&A Manager, you will facilitate management decisions with respect to P&L / OPEX / CAPEX through financial reporting, planning and analysis. You will also provide guidance on financial and operational KPIs to cross-functional stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Reporting and analysis of OPEX spend for Functional Groups

  • Analyze and track period financial reports versus budget and prior year performance including explanations on variances;

  • Control reporting quality; ensure proper cost periodization and classification, correct errors in coordination with Accounting;

  • Analyze headcount data vs. budget;

  • Control department costs by anticipating risks/opportunities;

  • Provide financial and operational KPI information through recurring and ad hoc analyses;

  • Prepare financial reports and analysis on OPEX spend vs budget to Corporate office team stakeholders;

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly market review presentations to senior management;

  • Coordinate with the support team in Riga (Latvia) the execution of OPEX spend work and deliverables of assigned FGs.

Budgeting and Business Planning for Functional Groups

  • Coordinate and align with stakeholders to build the annual operating budget;

  • Responsible with the upload of the operating budget into the consolidation tool;

  • Support in the preparation of budget summary presentations for senior management;

  • Coordinate and align GM and commercial teams on capital investment plan;

  • Participate in the improvement and implementation of forecasting and budget processes;

  • Coordinate with the support team in Riga (Latvia) the execution of Budget deliverables.

Financial Reporting and analysis on projects and initiatives

  • Track assigned FG capital spend and project pipeline against capital investment budget;

  • Work with FG teams and finance teams to develop, review and challenge business case assumptions;

  • Evaluate and report on the performance of strategic initiatives.

Other

  • Work on process and financial data improvement projects;

  • Ensures compliance with requirements, policies and regulations by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies and governmental regulations;

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related annual objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business;

  • CPA strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferably in financial analysis, strategic planning, or budgeting and forecasting.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Must have advanced knowledge in Excel; working knowledge PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.

  • Strong aptitude to learn new tools / systems

  • Experience working with accounting applications such as Longview, PDI, JDE would be a plus

  • Must have strong analytical and quantitative abilities; Must have strong attention to detail while being able to synthesize information

  • Experience working with large and complex datasets

  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate with all levels of management in a cross-functional environment

  • Must be willing to adapt to a dynamic business environment, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Comfortable initiating actions and taking responsibility to secure agreed output

  • Motivated by challenging tasks and complex projects across many countries and regions  

  • May be required to travel internationally, no more than 4% of the time.

Language skills

  • Bilingualism required (French and English), both written and spoken, as the person will be called upon to serve English-speaking regions.
