POSITION: Behavioral Health Clinical Service Manager

DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health Services

LOCATION: 1575 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, MA 02126

REPORTS TO: Behavioral Health Director

TYPE: Full-Time

SALARY: Negotiable


JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing clinical and administrative leadership for our behavioral health department. The Behavioral Health Clinical Service Manager would provide staff leadership and direct patient care for a large culturally diverse population requiring Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder services at MCHC.


RESPONSIBILITIES

75% Clinical Care

  • Provide appropriate psychosocial assessments and interventions.
  • Perform brief, solution focused therapy, and long term therapy.
  • Create treatment plans and refer clients to appropriate level of care based on assessment and treatment plan needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of community and social programs as a professional clinician in accordance with Mattapan Community Health Center grants/contract with federal, state, and local agencies and mandates of service requirements with those grants/contracts, such as AIMS, and Sustain.
  • Assist BHI Clinician with incoming BH referrals, as needed.
  • Support medical provider with getting clients connected to appropriate behavioral health services.
  • Perform crisis assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Prepare appropriate discharge plans and assist clients in a therapeutic transition from services.
  • Engage with clinical, health education, community health and other staff members in the provision of services to patients. Provide referrals for services needed.
  • Use test, measurements, and measurement scale for general and specifics assessments as well as objective patient criteria in the provision of services and evaluation procedures.
  • Facilitate research related activities pertinent to development of the integrated, inter-professional service model such as conducting surveys and studies relating to psychosocial status and patterns of population, groups, as directed.
  • Respond to urgent or emergent crisis as requested by the medical staff (51-A or Section 12).
  • Identifies, develops, evaluates and recommends new interventions as appropriate.
  • Records assessments and interventions in patient medical records according to established clinical documentation standards.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement projects within program area as needed.
  • As a member of the BH team support psychotropic medication management as prescribed by both our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or medical providers, focusing on treatment adherence monitoring, side effects, and effectiveness of treatment

25% Leadership/Care Coordination

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including supporting hiring of BH staff, training, and evaluating employees.
  • Assist BH Director with BH Peer Chart Review Process.
  • Provide and oversees clinical coverage in collaboration with BH director.
  • Collaborates with other community partners and providers, including Dept. of Mental Health, Dept. of Developmental Disability, Dept. of Children and Families to support clinical objectives.
  • Assist and orient new BH staff with BH workflows utilized via the EMR.
  • Collaborate with BH director in ensuring that staff are meeting productivity requirements.
  • Work with BH Director to restructure the department as needed to further integrate services in order to meet the needs of our patients.
  • Work collaboratively with OBAT team to coordinate services for patients requesting SUD services.
  • Participate in outreach related activities as directed to help increase patient volume and access to BH treatment.
  • Attend Behavioral Health team meetings, OBAT clinical rounds, routine staff meetings, and other team meetings for integrated care.
  • Assist BH director with tracking treatment response and monitor patients (in person or by telephone) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
  • Coordinate with MSW programs to help recruit, orient, and train MSW interns.

Requirements:

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's level Social work or Counseling degree.
  • Licensed preferred: LICSW, LMHC, and/or LMFT. Current, valid, and unrestricted licensure to practice in MA.
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • Successful candidate must be a self-starter, and capable of managing staff and giving directions to others, and able to work in a highly motivated, results-oriented environment.
  • Organizational skills and comfort working in a team-based, collaborative setting are a requirement.
  • Good communication skills with staff and patients.
  • Bilingual in English and Haitian Creole or Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiarity with multicultural groups, previous work experience in a multicultural setting and willingness to remain current in the field of focus is preferred.
  • Excel, outlook and EMR experience preferred
