Job Description

The College of Southern Nevada, Division of Workforce and Economic Development, seeks a dynamic and engaging part-time instructor to teach Industrial Mechanical Systems courses. The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of industrial mechanical systems principles and be passionate about sharing their knowledge with students pursuing careers in this exciting field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Primary teaching areas are in Industrial Mechanical Systems such as: Mechanical drive systems, power transmission systems, fasteners, belts, chains, couplings, shafts, bearings, lubrication, among others.

• Deliver high-quality instruction utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles, including lectures, labs, and hands-on activities.

• Develop and update curriculum, course materials, and assessments to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.

• Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters student success.

• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance.

• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.

• Adhere to all College policies and procedures.

• Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and technologies in the field of Mechanical Systems.

• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of the Industrial Mechanical Systems program.

• Be available to teach courses during the day, evening, or weekend, depending on scheduling needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years of Industrial Mechanical experience

• A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (Preferred)

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Commitment to student success and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

• Relevant industry experience (Mechanical Systems)

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching or training in a post-secondary or professional setting.

• Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities.

• Familiarity with current software and technologies used in Mechanical Engineering.

• Industrial Certifications.

• Experience teaching online/hybrid classes.

• Experience teaching online/hybrid classes using Canvas.

• Experience creating a college curriculum.

• Experience developing either industrial or engineering technology lab(s) in a college setting.

• Experience working in diverse multicultural situations

Starting Pay

$40 per hour
