Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, grant funded, exempt Associate Director for Student Equity and Inclusion position in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) department. This position will report to the Director of Student Equity and Inclusion. This position contributes to student success, retention, and completion by focusing on supporting equity at Clark College. This position will provide strategic goals, guidance, and advocacy, that improve student success and eliminate barriers to educational access. This position directs the work of (1) full-time Program Manager and oversees the diversity outreach program. Funding for this position is secured through June 2025. Renewal of the position is contingent on yearly funding; historically, this position has consistently renewed annually.
 
This position assists the college in creating a campus climate that is inclusive, culturally engaging, and anti-racist for all students, especially historically marginalized and underrepresented non-dominant populations. This position will provide services with an approach that is strengths-based, culturally relevant, and antiracist with a focus on reducing barriers and equity gaps for students of color, students with disabilities, members of LGBTQIAP2S+ communities, and students who are first-generation and low-income. The position is currently hybrid, with expected four (4) days in office, one (1) day remote. This work arrangement is subject to change based on the needs of the department and college. This is a key position at the College that will provide equity leadership and consultation to various departments and groups.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with the ODEI leadership, instructional and student affairs partners to define and establish a program on diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism for students to participate in annually beginning with the 2024-25 academic year.
  • In coordination with the Director of Student Equity and Inclusion, represent Clark College at Multicultural Student Services Directors' Council (MSSDC) and other organizations 
  • Work with Program Manager to arrange visit to Students of Color Conference, Native Student Success Summit, etc. 
  • Lead and implement new or existing department programs and/or projects (including Historically Black Colleges and Universities Pathway and others)
  • Organize and manage Listening Sessions for the college community, analyze results from students and implement solutions and programming to assist with campus climate for students.
  • Manage and update ODEI website in collaboration with department staff.
  • Serve as an integral and engaged planning team member of the annual Northwest Regional Equity Conference (NWREC), actively participate in the facilitation of sessions, sub-committee meetings and planning sessions, and fundraising activities.  
  • Oversee and support the implementation of student programs, events, and activities sponsored by ODEI and/or community partners (including Powwow, Black Student and Family Fair, Noche de Familia, and other large community events and activities). 
  • Plan, develop, and perform outreach initiatives to students, community partners, and resources.
  • Collaborate with Director of Student Equity and Inclusion on compliance reporting (as related to DEI legislation) and ensure reports are completed on-time and accurately and proper accountabilities and follow-up actions are defined and followed.
  • Lead, assess and implement culturally relevant, student-centered identity services in collaboration with the Director of Student Equity and Inclusion and campus partners
  • Provide culturally relevant, student-centered, identity-based resources and services to help students achieve their social and educational goals
  • Create department activity tracking and assessment systems in collaboration with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Support Revised Code of Washington (RCWs) related to equity and access in higher education and diversity, equity, and inclusion, and anti-racism training and assessments.
  • Create, implement, assess, and report program goals, objectives, and outcomes, and ensure data-informed practice.
  • Align all program activities with the college's Strategic Plan, department goals and Key Performance Indicators. Community and Campus Collaboration, Engagement, and Outreach
  • Provide day to day management of the physical Diversity Center space under the oversight of the Director of Student Equity and Inclusion to provide a clean and welcoming environment for inclusive programming for student groups and clubs, open houses, and community gatherings.   
  • Increase collaborative visibility and prioritization of work with BIPOC community partners and high school partners.
  • Increase partnerships to create culturally specific outreach programs to students and families to increase yield rates.
  • Contribute to creating a supportive work environment that is proactively inclusive, equity-focused, anti-racist, and emphasizes collective work.
  • Evaluate needs of current student populations and anticipate needs of future students—particularly underserved or historically underserved students—to identify proactive strategies to support their success.
  • Collaborate with various departments and community partners to support historically underrepresented non-dominant students.
  • Develop and deliver equity-centered learning and professional development to students, faculty and staff focused on concepts of racial equity, systemic racism, social and economic justice, power and privilege, historical underpinnings of systemic oppression, White Supremacy Culture, belonginess, inclusion, identity development, and cultural humility.
  • Collaborate to embed equity in the student success model and define what student success is at Clark College
  • Document ODEI and ODEI-related processes and practices and place in an accessible format and a unified area.
  • Communicate in written and oral formats including presentations for individuals and small and large groups both in-person and/or remotely online.
  • Serve on college committees, task forces, and other workgroups.
  • Collaborate with departments to incorporate DEI principles into existing programs and initiatives.
  • Promote the college's commitment to DEI through interactions with individuals and agencies.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders such as advisory board members, employers, and other community members.
  • Respond to inquiries, emails in a timely manner.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent administrative experience will be considered.
  • Two (2) years' experience in academic advising, education leadership, student affairs or a related area in post-secondary education.
  • One (1) year experience supervising full time staff.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across an organization to develop, deliver, and/or assess initiatives or programs that support student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice equity-mindedness in decision-making, relationship-building, and communication.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to and understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion and commitment to model inclusive behavior. 
  • Experience with student-centered diversity programming.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $72,687-$84,163 annually (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
