As a Strategic Planning Analyst within the Department Strategy Section of Community Services, you will play a crucial role in aligning departmental initiatives with city-wide strategic priorities. This involves utilizing your leadership, change management, and planning expertise to support the integration of strategic goals into the department's daily work. A key aspect of this position involves collaborating closely with stakeholders to advance the City's Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Strategy. The CSWB Strategy is a city-wide plan with a vision for a safer, more inclusive Edmonton. It's grounded in the principles of reconciliation, anti-racism, and equity, balancing immediate safety concerns with addressing the root causes of complex social issues. Strong collaboration and communication skills will be essential as you work with internal and external partners to implement the CSWB Strategy and other strategic initiatives.
What will you do?
- Develop, implement and support integrated strategic planning, policy and performance processes
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners, to understand their needs, identify trends, issues and gaps, and to support coordination and integration of City programs and services
- Provide expert advice and facilitate the processes for alignment, and integration of the CSWB Strategy with department and branch teams and their corresponding plans, programs and services
- Support the governance structure of the CSWB Strategy, with specific responsibilities for liaising with and convening the Subject Matter Expert working groups. Working Groups are key to ensuring a whole department approach to CSWB Strategy implementation, with efficiencies in planning and development of recommendations
- Organize and coordinate CSWB Strategy initiatives and participates in the development of long-term planning, reports and action plans
- Consult with senior management and staff and stakeholders to facilitate an enhanced system response to Edmontonians needs, and to develop business priorities, operational plans and business cases
- Assess, evaluate, and integrate best practices in business process improvement, strategic alignment, strategic planning and evidence-based practices
- Represent the section in various initiatives, providing expert advice and recommendations to stakeholders across the city
- Identify areas for improvement, research best practices, and stay informed about new trends and technologies
- Use project management best practices to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
- Develop materials like presentations and reports
- Other duties as assigned
