Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for delivering complex financial analytics and expert financial advice to support business decision making by clients within an assigned client portfolio.
What will you do?
- Provide financial advice and support to Operations by interpreting accounting data and developing strategies for multi-year operational budget proposals; conducting analysis of previous year's budget and accounting actuals, review of one time items and recommend course of action, conducting further analysis and providing guidance as needed
- Conduct analysis of cost drivers and provide advice and recommendations to Operations identifying potential areas where financial issues may occur
- Consult with Operations to determine requirements of the budget adjustment, validate need for change and identify if there are alternatives or other funding sources available
- Initiate approval process, ensuring justification and support for the change is documented through budget adjustment working papers
- Lead/manage analysis of data to support budget adjustments ensuring that any rate/fee changes are considered; conducting comparisons, benchmarking, forecasting, projections, recovery ratios and links to agreements are all part of the considerations
- Perform budget consolidation and update information in the budgeting system; submit to Operations to prepare required supporting documentation
- Provide recommendations and interpretation of analysis for business case and council reports as required
- Perform financial evaluation on the portfolio assessments, providing detailed analysis and interpretation of overall costing
- Business case development support to include the generation of reports and analysis to support or refute business case options
- Support and assist in lifecycle costing for Infrastructure Services and Funding Strategies section
- Contribute to the development of new corporate processes/procedures required as a result of system and organizational changes; champion business process changes on behalf of Financial Services
- Liaison between client and centralized financial services
- Perform related duties as required
