As a Roadway Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be a vital part of our City Operations team, ensuring our roads, sidewalks, and pathways are safe and well-maintained year-round.

This role is all about leadership and ensuring smooth operations. You'll manage a team of maintenance professionals, oversee daily tasks, and make sure projects are completed on time and within budget. Within a designated geographic area, the Roadway Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) will be the subject matter expert for year-round programs, collaborating closely with District Management, Leaders and Inspectors to strategically plan, coordinate and implement work plans across various areas, such as Asphalt Road Maintenance, Sidewalk Maintenance, Shared Use Paths, Oil & Gravel Road Maintenance, Sweeping and Snow & Ice Control. The role emphasizes compliance with City standards and the promotion of quality service delivery. This role hinges on building strong relationships with City administration, external stakeholders, and contractors while representing PARS in alignment with the City's vision. Coordination with key stakeholders like Fleet and Facility Services, Workforce Safety and Employee Health, Business Integration and Workforce Development is critical.

As the front-line leader for seasonal crews, the RMS coordinates daily operations, labour, equipment, and materials, ensuring that all projects meet established quality standards. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of the city's infrastructure, ultimately contributing to the City's vision and commitment to service excellence.

What will you do?

  • Guide daily operations, employee development, quality assurance, program development, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement
  • Oversee recruitment, staff management, attendance, and program performance
  • Manage proactive inquiry handling, team communication, and consistent messaging
  • Support Branch priorities and ensure adaptability to changing needs
  • Execute maintenance plans, and manage personnel compliance, inventory, and equipment
  • Ensure financial oversight, cost control, and resource allocation
  • Maintain safety compliance, conduct hazard assessments, and lead safety training
  • Monitor safety practices and contribute to continuous improvement and policy updates
  • Coordinate across departments, ensure legal and safety compliance, and make critical decisions under pressure
  • Lead diverse teams, manage equipment knowledge, and navigate regulatory frameworks
  • The impact of the role includes decisions affecting budgeting, operational effectiveness, performance tracking, and policy development, directly impacting organizational goals and community service
  • Additional duties include Supervising maintenance professionals, ensuring smooth daily operations, and year-round maintenance of Parks and Roads assets
  • Perform other related duties as required
