The Project Management Centre of Excellence (PMCE) is a high-performing team of innovative project managers and analysts who drive transformational departmental change through creative thinking and problem solving. PMCE's mandate is to advance project management knowledge and maturity within the Integrated Infrastructure Services Department and the City of Edmonton through the key areas of project management knowledge, processes/practices and systems. As the Project Manager, Process Improvement, you will be accountable to plan, execute, and control projects to improve project maturity and ultimately improve project outcomes for a department with an annual budget of over 1 billion dollars. You will leverage your strong process improvement, project and change management skills to identify areas for improvement and change process and service delivery to be more efficient and effective.
Project Management and Execution
- Manage projects or initiatives and improvements through leadership, strategic alignment, and analytics to achieve business results, improve project delivery outcomes and enhance project management maturity within the organization
- Sets the expectations and goals of programs; identifying required resources and budgets; defining roles and responsibilities, risk assessment and success criteria
- Manage, monitor, and report on progress and project/initiative health through detailed plan and schedule/cost estimates
- Supports development of project managers within IIS
Change Management and Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
- Develop and implement engaging change management strategies and work plans that will enhance the probability of program success and achieve optimum business value
- Manage the controlled deployment of process and operational changes
Stewardship
- Drive the stewardship program through conducting maturity assessments and root cause analysis to provide recommendations for improvements
- Track and monitor performance metrics, continuous improvement plans, and initiatives
- Foster a culture of collaboration and desired cultural commitments amongst the project team, across the department, and beyond
