If so, we invite you to join our team as a Planner II in the Subdivision and Development Coordination Section. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in managing, analyzing, and coordinating complex land development applications. Your specialized knowledge will guide the team in achieving sound planning principles, statutory requirements, and corporate objectives through a balanced and collaborative approach.

What will you do?

  • Manage complex subdivision applications, including pre-applications, conditional approvals, condominiums, and endorsements, using specialized knowledge in subdivision planning
  • Skillfully navigate negotiations and facilitate positive outcomes for complex and contentious subdivision applications
  • Lead and participate in pre-application meetings to guide applicants and ensure compliance with requirements
  • Working with an interdisciplinary team, ensure subdivision applications adhere to statutory plans, City policies, and relevant legislation
  • Prepare for subdivision-related appeals, ensuring alignment across departments
  • Appear before appeal boards or tribunals to present and defend the City's position on subdivision matters
  • Review subdivision endorsement applications for completeness and compliance with conditions
  • Offer expert advice and consultation to stakeholders on planning issues, including issue identification and resolution
  • Effectively manage project timelines while collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • Address sensitive and complex planning inquiries from City Council, senior administration, the public, and industry professionals
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on corporate projects that require subdivision input
  • Oversee and mentor a team of planning staff responsible for lot splits and condominiums to ensure their work aligns with City policies and statutory requirements, fostering professional growth and development
