The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a self-motivated individual to perform complex and diverse administrative and legal secretarial duties for the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) & Correspondence Unit. The responsibilities of this position include:
- Providing general office and reception services, including responding to public inquiries regarding access to information, scheduling appointments and meetings, ordering office supplies, maintaining a diary date system, answering telephones and greeting visitors.
- Developing and maintaining various FOIPP Unit records, schedules, charts, and databases.
- Composing, preparing, typing and collating a variety of correspondence, agreements, documents and materials.
- Performing a preliminary review of documents to provide background and support information.
- Assisting with the monitoring of formal FOIPP requests.
- Maintaining the library including all subscriptions, books, CD ROMs, publications, and legal amendments.
- Determining the need and ensuring the retention of various police files, tapes and audio or video recordings involving high profile incidents.
- Assisting FOIPP disclosure analysts as required to relieve them of routine tasks.
- Handling FOIPP Unit finances and associated paperwork.
- Performing other duties as required.
