Join us as a Landscape Technician I with Urban Forestry and become a vital steward of our urban forest. In this role, you'll apply your arboricultural expertise to perform tree health assessments, engage with citizens, and support various city departments, ensuring that our urban green spaces thrive and comply with city standards.

The Community Forestry team is focused on providing educational and engaging opportunities for Edmontonians to learn more about the benefits of the urban forest and to take part in stewardship activities and planting opportunities. This team also oversees the GIS tree inventory and condition assessment of Edmonton's open space and boulevard tree inventory. 

As an advocate of the urban forest and member of the Community Forestry team, you will perform a mix of the following:

  • Collect data in the field, including tree measurements and assessments, required for potential projects that take place around trees
  • Assess tree condition and collect data on City trees in GIS software
  • Review landscape drawings and maps to determine tree ownership
  • Ensure compliance with safety and ENVISO requirements
  • Respond to public complaints or inquiries, orally or in writing
  • Assist with creating educational and engaging content for social media posts, webpages, and workshops
  • Assist with delivering educational presentations to a wide variety of demographics to promote the benefits of the urban forest
  • Assist with facilitating community-driven planting programs
  • Assist with the annual tree health and inventory assessment of boulevard and open space trees
  • Perform related work, as required
