Description

The Affordable Housing and Homelessness Section works to ensure adequate, safe, and affordable housing options for all Edmontonians and coordinates the City's response to homelessness. Working with the Homelessness Response and Prevention Team, this position is responsible for coordinating and implementing projects connected to the City's Homelessness and Housing Service Plan. 

This position works with both internal and external stakeholders, including Department leadership teams, subject matter experts, and people with lived and living experience. This position plans, organizes, and implements actions related to the Homelessness and Housing Service Plan. Being successful in this position requires collaborating with various City departments to develop deliver training for staff on the homeless system of care to increase understanding of the root causes of homelessness and help City staff be equipped with the tools to respond appropriately. 

What will you do?
  • Successfully deliver assigned projects, including making operational decisions, managing budgets, and/or timelines within a delegated scope of authority
  • Manage politically sensitive and confidential projects and initiatives
  • Utilize influence, collaboration, effective communication, and mediation skills for issue resolution and problem-solving
  • Coordinate and manage logistics in delivering training to various City departments that work various shifts and at various locations throughout the City
  • Develop a training curriculum based on evidence-based best practices on homelessness and trauma-informed care, as well as, awareness of programs and services that improve responses to homelessness
  • Work across the corporation to execute projects as it relates to the Homelessness and Housing Services Plan
  • Utilize evidence and research to create different curriculum and training modules for varying business areas across the corporation that helps to increase awareness of the root causes of homelessness and evidence-based best practices for responding to the diverse circumstances involving houseless people that City staff may need to respond to in their jobs
  • Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and timelines. This includes preparation of Memorandums' of Understanding, Terms of Reference, governance structures, documents for Executive Sponsors, and close-out documents
  • Collaborate with other orders of government, non-profit organizations, community groups and other stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate community and sector learning opportunities
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and consultations to gather input and foster partnerships
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data to inform the performance measurement and evaluation
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, using data and feedback to make informed decisions and improvements
  • Perform other duties as required
