Play a pivotal role in the upcoming 2025 Edmonton Election!

The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council and board trustees for the Edmonton Public School Board or the Edmonton Catholic School Division.

Reporting to the Election Training Specialist, you will collaborate to develop and implement comprehensive training programs for over 5,000 election workers, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively. Your responsibilities for this position include creating training materials, delivering training sessions, organizing training logistics and supporting the end of project program review and reporting. The objective is to enable election workers to perform their duties accurately and with integrity.

What will you do?

  • Conduct training programs for election worker roles ensuring compliance with electoral legislative processes and content
  • Organize and execute in-person and virtual training sessions utilizing diverse training approaches, including presentations, discussions and activities, while maintaining accurate attendance records
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation, promotes collaboration among participants and facilitates knowledge retention
  • Set up and tear down training area, materials, technology and equipment according to the training plan
  • Work closely with the Training Specialists to develop course content and materials for all election worker positions, including presentations, handouts and activities that align with and achieve learning outcomes
  • Support the design of assessments, including quizzes, tests and practical exercises that accurately measure participants' understanding
  • Provide recommendations to the Election Training Specialists on course materials based on participant feedback, observations of class dynamics, instructional design best practices and adult learning theory
  • Deliver constructive, actionable feedback to participants
  • Collaborate closely with training specialists, fellow trainers and other members of the election team to ensure the seamless integration and delivery of a comprehensive and unified training program
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of each training session, and provide analysis of each program's effectiveness and alignment with training program objectives
