Description
The mission of the Waste Education and Outreach (WEO) team is to inform, engage, and empower Edmontonians to fully participate in the City's waste management system. The Diverse Communities Education Specialist is responsible for identifying and engaging Edmonton's diverse communities, applying their technical knowledge in K-12 and adult education to develop and deliver high-quality and engaging educational programs, tools, and resources. The work of this position will support the Waste Services Branch in meeting its strategic goals, ensuring that all Edmontonians have access to WEO's educational resources.
What will you be doing?
- Design targeted educational programs and tools for diverse audiences
- Identify, consult with, and build strong relationships with external partners, including educational institutions, external agencies/organizations, and community partners
- Act as a technical resource, advisor and mentor for the WEO team and internal partners, including Communications and Engagement, on related best practices
- Review, adapt, develop, recommend and evaluate educational resources
- Support the consistent and ongoing application of a Gender-Based-Analysis Plus (GBA process) to all educational and strategic initiatives
- Deliver educational programs as required/requested, applying knowledge of best practices in K-12 and adult education to ensure programs are engaging, accessible, and tailored to the unique needs of diverse audiences
- Work with local organizations and agencies to co-create tools and resources that align with educational best practices
- Achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive, service-minded style
