The City is committed to more communication, more often as many of its Collective Agreements have expired or will expire at the end of this year. In this temporary Communications Advisor position, you'll play a key role in developing and implementing communication plans and products that support the organization's labour relations and collective bargaining portfolios.
A successful individual in this role will be able to consider complex and/or sensitive information, analyze issues and opportunities and apply those considerations to creative, thoughtful and clear communications.
In this role you'll have the opportunity to work on strategies that help to foster mutual respect and a positive employee experience, and ensure both internal and external audiences understand complex processes and information through the collective bargaining life cycle. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate strengths in critical thinking and issues management in the preparation, maintenance or activation of contingency, business continuity or crisis communications plans.
What will you do?
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to clients
- Develop and implement communication plans that progress through the collective bargaining process.Develop and implement communications plans that support contingency planning and business continuity
- Produce a wide array of communication materials for external audiences, including social media, web content, news releases and media responses
- Produce materials for internal audiences including briefing documents, presentations and speaking notes, fact sheets and Q&As
- Manage sensitive and confidential information, and work alongside subject matter experts, the bargaining team, and other related teams or committees to ensure message alignment, accuracy and approvals
- Prepare media and social media monitoring reports Coordinate media responses and interviews
- Provide additional support to ad hoc corporate issues in response to issues or emergent matters
