As a Building Operator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of building systems, including air conditioning, heating and ventilation. This role ensures a comfortable and safe environment in various city facilities while adhering to all safety regulations and building codes.

What will you do?

• Operate and maintain heating plants according to safety codes (Provincial Boilers Act, ASME), including daily inspections, monitoring, and documentation
• Identify and report safety concerns or equipment malfunctions, initiate work orders, and track their completion
• Sample and maintain water systems for heating and cooling plants, ensuring proper treatment
• Inspect, monitor, and document the operation of air conditioning and ventilation equipment
• Assist trades personnel with preventative maintenance programs for boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems
• Perform maintenance tasks on heating and cooling plants, including lubrication, compressor upkeep, and cooling tower maintenance
• Conduct chemical testing and provide treatment as required for heating and cooling systems
• Escort contractors and Provincial Boiler Inspectors within City facilities
• Adhere to all relevant Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental codes and standards
• Maintain log sheets, submit reports to supervisors, and attend safety meetings
