GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Transportation & Drainage Director, performs responsible administrative and professional engineering work as a licensed professional engineer assisting in directing Department of Transportation & Drainage activities. Work involves responsibility for the efficient administration of all public works design and construction engineering efforts; the supervision of technical, clerical, skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled personnel; financial stewardship of City-Parish funds; and representation of the department in a variety of public forums (e.g. Metro Council meetings). Work requires exceptional teamwork and the use of independent judgment within established policy guidelines. Performs other work as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in one of the recognized branches of engineering from the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, and ten years of experience in professional engineering (such as highways, streets, bridges, and/or drainage planning and/or construction), including four years of managerial experience (may include complex project management).
SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Possession of a license to practice professional engineering as issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver's license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
