CREDIT POLICY AND ANALYSIS OFFICER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? This position is responsible for researching, authorizing and/or editing new and revised credit policy and procedures for the Credit Policy Manual and the Credit Procedures Manual. This position will also be responsible for analyzing and presenting data regarding trends and overall performance of the credit portfolio quality.
What you will do
- Analyze, monitor risk ratings to understand and improve consumer and small business portfolio diversification
- Support risk presentations for senior management that include portfolio activities, risk analytics, performance review.
- Review and challenge business strategies, and provide feedback on new (or significant enhancement to) products or service that have credit risk
- Utilize sensitivity analysis, stress testing, market trend, and other analytical methodologies to anticipate any credit trends or deterioration and obtain insights into portfolio performance and market opportunities
- Support development of analytics and advanced visualization to assist with portfolio credit risk surveillance.
- Review policy exceptions that will provide meaningful feedback to understand credit portfolio risk
- Complies fully with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).
- Support the credit risk framework that balances the Bank's current situation, desired credit culture, industry “best practices”, risk tolerance, and regulatory expectations.
- Seek input from various areas and levels of the bank to assess current and necessary policy updates including updates to current policies and creation of new polices as needed.
- Work with the various lending units within the Bank in the creation, review, and/or editing of new and existing credit policies; identifying any areas of potential conflict within the existing and proposed policies.
- Identify gaps in current policy requirements and current practices; make recommendations for proposed revisions to correct deficiencies while ensuring sound risk management practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Conduct analysis and research on credit policy issues and recommend changes to the Senior Credit Policy Officer.
- Collaborate with the Credit Portfolio Risk Department to create reports for the Board of Directors and RBC management on behalf of the CCO.
- Interpret trend data on the portfolio with regard to asset quality trends and the correlation of policy exceptions to overall portfolio performance.;
- Analyze the impact on credit policy framework documents of modifications to credit risk practices.
- Research and create presentations for Credit Policy Committee consideration; present to the Senior Credit Policy Officer for approval. Assist in the various governance committees' administrative functions including recording minutes, assembling and distributing decks and agendas and providing logistical venue support.
- Assist the Senior Credit Policy Officer and business leads in the identification and prioritization of credit policy workflow.
- Ensure timely and accurate implementation and communication to lending personnel of policy and guidelines by publishing and communicating policy updates through various channels.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 7 years of experience in a banking environment required
- 7 years of experience in credit, risk management, and regulatory supervision required
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of Excel, Access, MS PowerPoint, etc.
- Prior in-depth knowledge of commercial portfolio management, credit risk, commercial credit underwriting, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to do business presentations to small groups.
- Ability to work with all levels of line and corporate management.
