CREDIT OFFICER LEAD CORPORATE BANKING WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Participates in the loan management process by providing credit and loan underwriting expertise. Is client facing and manages all aspects of credit relationships for clients. Provides credit product expertise in an advisory capacity and ensures all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and thorough before credit approval is granted. Provides workflow oversight and delegates team assignments. What you will do Transactional
- Underwrite new transactions with commitments typically $25-100 million to private and public borrowers across the sponsor and direct channels. Target clients typically have >$10 million of EBITDA and $100 million-$2 billion of revenue.
- Lead the wing-to-wing underwriting process including proposal letter preparation, due diligence, dynamic 3-statement financial modeling, credit memorandum preparation, compliance, definitive loan documentation, loan closing, etc.
- Run Lead Left and JLA transactions, and possess expertise in managing through an underwriter of a syndicated loan, on a blind participation and direct basis.
- Structure revolvers, term loans, delayed draw terms loans, and CAPEX lines across multiple product lines including asset-based, asset-backed, unitranche, cash flow, and unsecured.
- Manage through multiple transaction types including LBOs, MBOs, refinances, growth capital, recapitalizations, add-on acquisitions, etc.
- Negotiate and review credit agreements, guaranty and security agreements, intercreditor agreements, subordination agreements, amendments, consents, waivers, forbearance agreements, etc.
- Manage a portfolio of borrowers across multiple food and beverage subsectors with various structures, roles, commitments and risk ratings.
- Perform monthly/quarterly and annual reviews of client's condition including monitoring financial performance, risk rating, capacity to repay, covenants, etc.
- Evaluate credit requests to assess creditworthiness, prepare the corresponding approval memorandum, and document the waiver/consent/amendment, as applicable.
- Provide balanced and appropriate credit guidance to Relationship Managers, Group Head and Credit Manager.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external constituents (e.g. clients, auditors, field examiners, appraisers, counsel, etc.) concerning credit policies, procedures, structuring, etc. before it is elevated, if necessary, to the Credit Manager.
- Have primary role in early problem loan identification and the timely and accurate changes to risk ratings.
- Attend client meetings, as necessary, to facilitate delivery of the credit product and/or or assist in problem resolution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all Bank lending policies and regulations. Confer with the Credit Manager and appropriate Bank personnel regarding new/existing lending requirements and regulations. Act in accordance with Bank's credit culture and strategies.
Managerial
- Manage workflow and priorities in conjunction with the Credit Manager. Determine and assign work assignments to team of Credit Officers and Credit Analysts based on experience, availability, and portfolio complexity and size.
- Provide technical guidance to and review the work of less experienced Credit Officers and Credit Analysts. Guide and assist Credit Officers and Credit Analysts in research, credit structuring, financial analysis, financial modeling, loan documentation, etc. for complex accounts.
- Monitor performance, provide on-going performance feedback and participate in conducting effective performance appraisals. Train, coach, counsel and provide general direction and guidance to staff, including identifying development needs and providing educational/training opportunities.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years' experience in underwriting medium to large sized and moderately-complex commercial credit required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a banking or financial services environment required.
- Completion of credit training program is required.
Skills and Knowledge
- College degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience in underwriting medium to large sized and moderately-complex corporate credit which includes analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating financial statements, cash flow analysis, familiarity with various industries, collateral issues and values, loan structuring and guarantor personal financial statements and tax returns.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Highly knowledgeable in corporate credit policies and procedures.
- Strong credit analysis and accounting skills with the ability to communicate skillfully and effectively in both verbal/written forms.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for decision making. Ability to work well independently and in teams and interact effectively with all levels of Bank personnel and outside contacts.
