CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS SENIOR SPECIALIST

 

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?  

The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for executing internal and external communications strategies and projects that help to promote and protect City National Bank's brand reputation and growth.  With a specific focus on supporting the bank's Lines of Business, the Senior Specialist is responsible for developing, proposing, writing and editing content for a wide array of communications that promote the company's brand reputation, business development strategies, and thought leadership. This role will also play an important part in executing media relations activities including strategy, material and message development as well as staffing interviews, spokesperson prep, media monitoring and metrics reporting.  

 

What you will do

 

  • Develop and execute internal and external communications projects and programs such as leader remarks, media materials and press releases, internal articles, awards entries, leader messages and intranet articles.
  • Conduct both proactive and reactive media relations leveraging existing relationships and working to secure coverage of bank news and thought leadership opportunities in both local and national media outlets.
  • Play a supporting role to overall communications team in delivering impactful communications programs including live events, internal town halls and media campaigns.
  • Ensure the overall communications approach and deliverables align with Corporate Communications best practices and team-level priorities, and reflect the bank's culture, brand, vision and values.
  • Measure and monitor the performance of communications effectiveness for internal reporting on metrics and to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in other projects and duties as assigned.

 

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in writing and copy-editing skills, proofreading, Journalism, editing, AP Style
  • Minimum 6 years corporate communications experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • BA/BS degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field preferred
  • Finance/banking background preferred
  • PR agency experience preferred
  • Journalism, editing, AP Style, business background a plus
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills required
  • Must be able to provide high attention to detail
  • Knowledge and proficiency in social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Must possess an interpersonal style that enables effective relationships with peers and senior executives in the execution of job responsibilities
  • Strong background in corporate communications, business writing, media relations and digital communications with demonstrated capabilities in delivering impactful results, managing strong media relationships, having a nose for news and an eagerness to learn and grow skills.
  • Must be capable of working well independently and in teams
  • Proficiency in creating communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Familiarity of Southern California media landscape
Compensation Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
