Merchandising Capabilities Manager

Type of Employment: Permanent

Location: Oslo, Norway, Copenhagen, Denmark or Dublin, Ireland

Visa requirements: A valid work permit from the EU/EEA (relocation assistance is not provided)

THE ROLE

We're looking for a dynamic and skilled individual, to work with the multi-functional team in advancing our Merchandising Assortment capabilities in Europe (EUR).  In this role you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Tech and analytical tools, fostering the adoption of a data driven merchandising approach. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to design and deploy assortment optimization processes and analysis in EUR. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Assortment Capabilities and will be supported by the global Merchandising Capabilities team. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strategic thinking, analytical mindset, strong prioritization ability and leadership skills to mobilize teams and engage key stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

  • Own and execute the roadmap and advancement of Assortment capabilities in alignment with the Global Merchandising strategy.

  • Leverage category management expertise/merchandising principles to guide product capabilities development and facilitate dialogue between cross-functional teams inputs & outputs

  • Provide guidance to Data Science teams in the development of Assortment planning and optimization tools

  • Work closely with a Project Manager in sourcing business requirements, prioritizing tasks, identifying risks and mitigation plans, monitoring progress, and providing updates to leadership

  • Collaborate with Global Functions, Regional Merchandising, Business Area (BA) and Business Units (BU) leads to gain broader stakeholder adoption and usage of new tools and continually improve ways of working.

  • Oversee, manage, and coach a business analyst.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Merchandising or related field. Master's degree is an asset.

  • 4 years of work experience in retail merchandising, category/brand/product management, analytics, software/capabilities development, or strategy consulting including a minimum of 3 years of management responsibility.

  • Strong understanding of standard merchandising principles around product planning, planograming, pricing, and promotions.

  • Demonstrated success working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive change across the organization and deal well with ambiguity & complexity.

  • Travel required 10% of time, some international. Passport or travel documentation/visa required.

  • Some flexibility around working hours required, working with Global teams across time zones.
