The Pharmacy Department is recruiting for a full time Pharmacy Technician to work day shift in the Prescription Data Center (PDC) located at the Health Care Center in Newark, Delaware. Days for this position are Monday through Friday. Hours will rotate between 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position may occasionally cover shifts in the Wilmington or Christiana Retail pharmacies, or in the Mail Order Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Fill patient prescriptions to include data entry, insurance billing, and appropriate labeling and packaging, for pharmacist verification.
  • Assist the pharmacist in providing timely, efficient, cost effective, and appropriate pharmaceutical care to the patient
  • Make medication credit and charge adjustments via the computer system
  • Process new orders for the Pharmacy Discharge Program and the Meds-to-Beds program
  • Obtain patient demographic, insurance, and health information from the health system EMR used for creating a new patient profile within the pharmacy dispensing system
  • Review Patient EMR charts to obtain ICD10 codes and review case manager notes for specific encounters
  • Research and resolve insurance rejections
  • Effectively communicate with case managers, nurses, providers, and patients
  • Answer telephones and greet personnel coming into the pharmacy in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Provide necessary information regarding patient drug orders
  • Refer problems and drug information inquiries to the pharmacist as required
  • Orient and train new pharmacy personnel


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB required
  • At least one year of Pharmacy Technician experience required
  • Knowledge of generic and trade names of formulary drugs
  • Ability to type and perform basic math calculations
