- Traveling Med-Surg nurses for day and night shift coverage
- Schedule Information
- Day and night shift coverage
- Shift will be twelve hours
- 13-26 Week Contracts
- 36-48 hour guarantees
- Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
- Travelers will be scheduled
- Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor
- Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed
- Unit Specific Information
- # of Beds: 55
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive
- Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?
- Additional Notes: This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the busyness of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first
- They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmese

- Are RN's required to read their own strips?
- What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided: RNs: Navy Blue
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days
- Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness
- Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract)
- Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions
