**Guaranteed 30 hours a week with 15 specified paid holidays, break days and benefits eligible. Pay is $20.60 per hour and benefits**

 

JOB PURPOSE: To transport students to and from designated stops while maintaining a safe environment and in accordance with the policies set by Charter Schools USA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students while operating a school bus.
  • Work closely with Transportation Services and the school principals regarding hazards encountered on bus routes.
  • Inform Transportation Services regarding any suggested changes in route schedules or bus loads.
  • Assist other school bus drivers with their routes in cases of emergencies.
  • Obey all traffic laws.
  • Complete and submit to Transportation Services all required reports and information in accordance with the policy of Charter Schools USA
  • Possess the physical and mental capability of operating all school buses assigned to the Transportation fleet.
  • Address and assist with student discipline problems, aided by the school administration and Transportation Services.
  • Facilitate a feeling of safety and security to transported students.
  • Manage students in a positive and effective way.
  • Comply with Regulations and Policies pertaining to school bus driver certification and responsibility.
  • Attend assigned workshops and training programs.
  • Submit to Drug and/or Alcohol testing when required by School Board, State, and/or Federal policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.


FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.


EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.


DECLARATION
The Charter Schools USA Human Resources Department retains the sole right and discretion to make changes to this job description. Any employee making changes unauthorized by Human Resources Department will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or Florida Special Diploma.
  • Experience as a school bus driver or driver of other large vehicles
  • Valid Florida Commercial Driver License Class B with Passenger and S Endorsements and verification of an acceptable driving record through the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Any of the following will render a candidate ineligible for employment:
    1. Received a citation for driving under the influence, lifetime.
    2. Falsified an accident report, lifetime.
    3. Received a citation for passing a stopped school bus within last five (5) years.
    4. At fault accident resulting in a fatality, lifetime.
    5. Loss of or suspension of driver's license for traffic related offenses/violations of F.S.S. 316 within last three (3) years or for multiple non-traffic related offenses.
    6. More than six (6) points on license within the last three (3) years.
    7. Reckless driving within the last five (5) years.
    8. Railroad crossing offenses within the last five (5) years.
    9. Leaving the scene of an accident within the last five (5) years.
    10. Failure to report an accident within the last five (5) years.
    11. Speeding in a school zone within the last five (5) years.
    12. No more than two (2) moving violations including adjudication withheld, for moving violations within the last five (5) years.
    13. Speeding in excess of twenty-one (21) miles per hour over posted speed limit within the last five (5) years.
