As a Controller, you will establish and implement financial controls policy and procedures for CSUSA schools, to ensure validity of the company's financial statements and reporting and for the guidance of management and school boards.

How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the Accounting Department.
  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation and review of the schools' monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provides support to strategic financial leadership and support on financial matters related to the schools' budgets and expenditures and/or other issues affecting school finance.
  • Develops and establishes operating policies consistent with overall strategic objectives and ensures their adequate execution; evaluates the effectiveness and results of overall operations on a regular basis and reports findings to the Executive Team.
  • Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
  • Establishes financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements.
  • Works to optimize the handling of the schools' audit relationships and initiates needed strategies for improvement.
  • Supports senior management with school applications for new credit arrangements.
  • Builds, develops, and manages teams capable of carrying out needed initiatives.
  • Reviews and approves accounts payable, i.e., verifies that the payables comply with company policy.
  • Approves funding of school payroll and works with the Vice President of Finance in daily cash management.
  • Assumes responsibility for the orderliness of Accounting Department record-keeping and electronic tracking of financial documents.
  • Participates in department, school-based and board of directors' meetings as appropriate.
  • Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance with school accounting.
  • Assists with establishing an internal audit function that would report audit findings of each school to the governing boards.
  • Coordinates all legal matters with Corporate Counsel and related third-party insurance attorneys in regard to Corporate, School and bonds.
  • Works closely with other departments to meet the company's strategic goals (for the schools).

Job Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant or Master's Degree in Finance or Business.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in Accounting or Business Administration; multi-company experience preferred.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), accounting software, visual presentations.
  • Travel within and outside the state as the job dictates.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
