As a Business Development Analyst, you will report to the Director of Schools Design & Development and serve on the CSUSA National Team, playing a key role in supporting the strategic direction for growth strategy and in managing the due diligence activities required to identify new markets and analyze potential development opportunities.
How You Will Impact Education
Instruction/Education Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain relevant education and demographic data for use in developing proprietary analytical models that quantitatively prioritize market opportunities. These models will identify new state and regional markets with entry potential, as well as existing regional and community markets for school/network expansions.
- Remain up to date on the school choice industry and conduct extensive research to maintain awareness of emerging opportunities for charter school and/or turnaround development.
- Refine and deliver all templates relevant to the position. These may be company-wide school opening reports requiring cross-departmental collaboration, or templates specific to other business units to which the Business Development Analyst contributes.
- Prepare concise demographic reports (with relevant data, maps, intel, etc.) and present to business unit leaders and/or to inform overall strategy, support specific projects and go/no-go decisions.
- Maintain a database of all potential partners, existing competitors, and any other contacts and/or leads who contact business units in a development capacity.
- Work with interdisciplinary teams across the companies to maintain a comprehensive 2-5 year development pipeline and schedules for new school openings.
- Customize project contributions as requested, submit status reports, escalate issues, and generally work collaboratively with the rest of the team.
- Participate, successfully, in training programs to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to job duties.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies. Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company, support company's goals and strategic priorities.
- Support data analytics and reporting within the National Accountability Team as requested.
- Collaborate with local school district growth planning teams to determine growth and development needs and opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of School Design and Development.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to independently conduct thorough market studies and demand analysis, and develop sophisticated models based on key variables.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and ability to transform data into qualitative summary reports for managers and executives.
- Possess advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Additional knowledge of project management software (SharePoint) is preferred, and quick mastery of mapping software (e.g. Google Earth, ESRI, GIS, etc.) will be expected.
- Understand how changes in state charter school laws impact business development opportunities.
- Work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization. As unique situations arise, the incumbent must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the public image.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with all constituents. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Demonstrate excellent oral (including presentations), written (reports), interpersonal (active listening) skills, and the ability to negotiate and influence, great phone etiquette a plus.
- Think ahead and plan over a 2-5 year time span.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects at once.
- Willingness to solicit and accept feedback to improve performance.
- Problem analysis/resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Strong track record for analyzing complex problems/issues, identifying patterns, and recommending creative solutions.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or another quantitative field is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in conducting market analysis and/or project management implementing start-up business units preferred. Experience in site analytics, location intelligence, or geospatial research preferred.
- Experience with complex business models and/or in an educational environment, especially charter schools, preferred.
- Commitment to company values and sincere interest in school choice and charter schools.
- Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.
