Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for assisting women in all stages of pregnancy, childbirth and post-delivery. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general medical direction of an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Works is guided by physician-approved protocols and evaluated through chart review, consultations and observation of results.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, counsel and educate patients to promote healthy living through education and primary prevention regarding medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes and referrals.
  • Conducts examinations and takes full detailed medical history to identify and assess patient?s clinical and health care needs to develop an individual program of care.
  • Identify high risk pregnancies and make referrals to doctors and other medical specialists, as appropriate.
  • Supervise and assist mothers in labor, monitoring the condition of the fetus and using knowledge of drugs and pain management
  • Offer support and advice following birth or events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death
  • Minimum Requirements

    Education
