Key Account Associate

This is a hybrid role requiring regular in-office presence in San Francisco. The employee must be able to commute to the office several times per week, with the schedule varying based on meeting times and business needs. 

 

Mission:

To drive business performance by supporting the Key Accounts function through strategic execution, data driven insights, and cross-functional collaboration. The Key Accounts Associate plays a pivotal role in managing smaller categories, facilitating milestone meetings, and optimizing retail strategies to enhance business growth.

Scope:

The Key Accounts Associate reports to the Sr. Manager, Key Accounts. This role ensures seamless coordination of business initiatives, category management, and operational efficiencies while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Role Expectations:

 

Strategic Support & Category Ownership:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business, brand vision, and market trends to drive initiatives effectively.
  • Assist in developing and executing strategic plans for assigned categories to meet sales and growth objectives.
  • Manage smaller categories and initiatives independently, ensuring alignment with overall business strategies and creative goals.
  • Identify and contribute to growth opportunities within assigned categories, adjusting strategies as necessary.

Milestone Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Organize and facilitate key milestone meetings (e.g., Roadmap, Midsight, Hindsight), ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on category progress and future plans.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure product offerings align with business goals and brand vision.
  • Coordinate the execution of deliverables and new initiatives, ensuring smooth execution and clear communication across teams.
  • Serve as a point of contact for data-related tasks, ensuring communication flows smoothly across teams.

 

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze sales data and apply retail math to uncover trends, insights, and opportunities for refinement of category strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on category performance, including sales trends, inventory levels, and customer feedback.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research to ensure category competitiveness and alignment with market needs.

 

Operational Support:

  • Must be proactive in identifying and addressing issues, using problem-solving skills and investigating as needed to resolve operational challenges.
  • Manage data entry for store openings, closures, relocations, and product setup, ensuring accuracy across systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with product scanning and data discrepancies, coordinating with internal and external teams.

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee administrative tasks, including milestone tracking, updating reports, maintaining calendar invites, and preparing meeting materials.
  • Organize and manage physical product samples, ensuring availability for meetings, presentations, and product reviews.
  • Ensure the office environment is organized, maintain inventory and supplies, and coordinate logistics for meetings and events.

  • Establish relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (First 30 Days)
  • Gain a strong understanding of industry trends, client demographics, and promotional strategies (First 60 days)
  • Align with ongoing projects and initiatives, ensuring seamless execution (First 60 days)
  • Develop an understanding of merchandise planning, logistics, and cross-functional collaboration (First 90 days)

 

Critical Experiences:

 

  • 3–5 years of experience in account management, merchandising, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the apparel product lifecycle and the merchandising process.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using retail math, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • SAP and retail software experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
