JOB SUMMARY

The Psychometrist 2 performs a variety of duties involved in administering and scoring patient psychological and neuropsychological tests, under the directions of a psychologist and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Administers and scores personal neuropsychological tests following standardized administration procedures. These tests measure clinical factors, such as cognitive functioning, presence of organic involvement, personality assessment, psychopathology and aid in differential diagnosis.
  • Records behavioral observations during the test session while establishing and maintaining rapport, eliciting optimum performance and minimizing factors that could impact the validity of test performance.
  • Documents test scores and maintains accurate records in departmental database. Ensures confidentiality of test results and recommendations; maintains security of testing materials.
  • Coordinates scheduling and communicates testing procedures and priorities to patients and other hospital personnel, as requested.
  • Provides clinical documentation of patient information.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Master's degree in psychology or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with neuropsychological and psychological tests preferred.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods and knowledge of psychometric statistics.
  • Requires a high level of professionalism and proven interest in testing.
  • Requires attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and basic software applications, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Social skills to effectively work with a wide range of people and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
