Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in our Med Telemetry Unit, you will provide exceptional care to patients requiring continuous monitoring of their cardiac and medical conditions. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your expertise in telemetry monitoring and medical-surgical nursing will be critical to ensuring optimal patient outcomes.   Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, responding promptly to changes and alarms.
  • Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' conditions, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Clinical Interventions: Administer medications, perform treatments, and execute procedures as prescribed while adhering to evidence-based practices.
  • Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including monitoring data, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Emergency Response: Recognize and respond to medical emergencies and arrhythmias, providing appropriate interventions and escalating as necessary
  Qualifications:
  • Education: RN Nursing Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current RN license in Louisiana
  • Experience: Previous experience in a telemetry or medical-surgical unit preferred.
  • Training: The med/tele unit is proud to be designated as a "Stroke Unit" with TJC Primary Certification, specializing in the care of patients following acute strokes. Nurses working in this unit will receive comprehensive education tailored to meet the specific requirements of stroke care.
  • Skills: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in telemetry equipment and software.
  • completion of a Basic EKG Course within the first 6 months of hire
