Summary of Position: 

The Supply Chain Specialist inventories, orders, receives, stages, stores, and distributes shipments of supplies and equipment. Ensures deliveries are correct, purchase orders are received in the supply chain information system, and delivery documents are prepared. Delivers supplies to appropriate locations. Responds to inquiries as to availability of supplies, expected delivery dates, and researches delays. 

 

Qualifications

Education:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

 

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Healthcare Materials Management/Supply Chain Management or related experience preferred.

• Ability to read and communicate in English

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to understand and utilize inventory and distribution capabilities of Materials Management Information Systems.   

• Knowledge of hospital supplies, equipment and medical terminology preferred.

• Ability to manage a stressful work environment that includes frequent interruption. 

• Ability to work as a team player and help maintain a safe working environment. 

 

Certifications/Licensure:

• Valid California or Nevada Driver's license (depending on state of employee's residence) or ability to obtain prior to start date 

• DMV Printout showing 3 year clean driving record

• Normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate while in the office.

• Occasional travel to various health system locations. 

 

Essential Functions

1. Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.

2. Ensures timely and accurate inventory and restock of patient care supplies to all replenishment locations throughout the health system including the central warehouse.

3. Maintains storeroom and hospital department stock inventory and stocks all locations.

4. Performs equipment delivery, tracking, cleaning and set up functions where required.

5. Processes inbound receiving and outbound shipping for all medical/surgical and non-medical supplies

6. Responsible for input of incoming request for supplies into Materials Management Information System (MMIS).

7. Delivers all supplies, interoffice mail and US Mail to the appropriate department as required.

8. Audits suggested order report, prepares and places stock orders utilizing a variety of software programs.

9. Performs cycle counts and reports discrepancies.

10. Prepares and maintains records of activities related to all issue and distribution functions

11. Maintains the storeroom and departmental stock locations in a clean, accurate and orderly fashion.

12. Uses Supply Chain Management information system to perform issue functions.

13. Prepares transfer, issue, and disposal documents for patient billable supplies.

14. Assures that all supplies are rotated, notifies supervisor of outdates and removes outdated or obsolete supplies.

15. Ability to perform all functional assignments within the department and performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

16. When needed, completes assigned courier routes within established timeframes. 

17. Demonstrates excellent communication and customer services with co-workers and customers. 

18. Clean patient care equipment according to manufacturer's requirements and instructions for use. 

19. Reports to the Supply Distribution Supervisor.

20. Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
