Barnstable Academy is seeking an experienced English, History and Executive Function teacher to work closely with students in a 1:1 setting, focusing on developing literacy, analytical thinking, writing, and executive functioning skills. This role is ideal for an educator who values individualized instruction and is committed to fostering academic growth in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide 1:1 instruction in humanities subjects (English, history, social sciences) tailored to each student's needs and learning style.
- Support students in improving their executive functioning skills, including time management, task initiation, prioritization, organization, and study strategies.
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans to enhance reading comprehension, critical thinking, and writing abilities.
- Track student progress, adjust teaching strategies, and collaborate with families and other educators to ensure student success.
- Foster a positive, engaging learning environment that builds students' confidence and independence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, History, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience in 1:1 or small-group teaching, preferably in a specialized or individualized learning setting.
- Strong understanding of executive functioning challenges and strategies for student success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Passion for personalized education and a commitment to student growth.
