Banner Scottsdale Sports Medicine is a three-story, 80,000-square-foot center welcoming and serving athletes at all levels, from youth to professionals. Our comprehensive, one-stop destination offers numerous sports medicine services and specialists under one roof, with internationally and nationally renowned sports medicine providers and leaders. Services include orthopedic surgery, primary care sports medicine, concussion care, ambulatory surgery center, physical therapy, medical imaging, performance assessment and training, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, and sports psychology.

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, you will be joining a collaborative and team-oriented multidisciplinary staff within the High Performance Center (HPC). You will assist with the delivery and implementation of programming to support the injury prevention, performance, and recovery goals of clients and athletes at an individual and/or team level across a variety of sports and activities. Your coaching skills will be utilized to lead and support training athletes of all sports, ages and abilities. You will conduct on-site and virtual tests/assessments to evaluate and monitor performance and recovery. In addition, you will participate in various research projects and endeavors. This role requires physical activity such as performing, demonstrating, and instructing exercises and lifting heavy weight repeatedly as well as strong communication and group leadership coaching skills. In addition, you will support business development/sales initiatives within the community and at the facility and participate in education and engagement activities with clients/athletes, parents and staff.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years' related experience coaching athletes, a bachelor's degree in Human Performance, Exercise Science, Sports Science or a related field, and NSCA - Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). A work background in a team sports setting working with pro/elite athletes, as well as working with youth athletes and delivering outreach programs is desired. NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) are highly preferred.

This is a part-time day shift working 20 hours per week. The shift will vary and include early morning / afternoon hours, as well as some weekend hours. Some local travel may be required. POSITION SUMMARY
This position serves a member of an interdisciplinary team of practitioners assembled to help athletes mitigate the risk of injury and enhance performance outcomes while leveraging technology and the collective experience of the high-performance center (HPC) team to design and deliver evidence-based interventions for athletes of all ages and abilities.


CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Assists with the design, development, and delivery of programming to support the injury prevention, performance, and recovery goals of the HPC clients and athletes at an individual and/or team level across a variety of sports and activities.

2. Contributes, develops, and implements general, specific, and specialized programs while working and integrating with the HPC cross-functional team to optimize human performance.

3. Conducts on-site, remote, and/or virtual tests and assessments to evaluate and monitor athletes.

4. Instructs, motivates, and assists clients in a safe, legal, moral, ethical manner to achieve their goals.

5. Partners with Banner Sports Medicine team to assist with set up and implementation of various engagement and referral systems between business units to provide a seamless and high-quality client/athlete experience.

6. Assists the Athletic Performance Coordinator with the implementation, delivery, and quality control of performance programming for the HPC team.

7. Contributes to daily operations of the facility including opening/closing duties, ordering/restocking of equipment and nutritional items, equipment cleaning and organization, soiled linen laundry, etc.

8. Supports business development and/or sales initiatives as required within the community and the HPC facility. Leads or participates in education and engagement activities with clients/athletes, parents, and/or staff. Generates client/athlete reports, interprets, and presents results across stakeholders. Reports/records various metrics related to operations including attendance, and performance.

9. Supports, collaborates and/or participates in Banner University research endeavors and innovations. Maintains professional credentials as required including necessary continuing education. Assists in documentation duties associated with assessment, injury prevention, programming, etc., within various platforms + databases utilized in the Banner High Performance Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, skills, and abilities as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in human performance, exercise science, or kinesiology and five years of related experience.
