Overview


What You Will Do:


Performs a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities as needed to facilitate patient care and treatment. Performs imaging exams, under the supervision of a registered imaging technologist. Assists in monitoring the flow of patient activities in the department. Performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, and submission for interpretation and archiving of images.Assists in the care of the patient while in the Imaging department.



    • Performs basic imaging procedures supervised by a registered technologist.

    • Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of imaging exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.

    • Utilizes appropriate techniques and positioning to demonstrate anatomy of area of interest based on sound imaging principles.

    • Reviews all imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are communicated to staff technologist and/or radiologists for final approval.

    • Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.

    • Provides explanation of imaging procedures to patients and answers questions

    • Observes patient while in the imaging department for change in status and makes appropriate intervention or contacts primary care givers for instructions.

    • Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.

    • Reviews diagnostic quality of medical images having all questionable images reviewed with staff technologist prior to submission for radiologist for interpretation.


What You Will Need:


High school diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited certificate or degree program in Sonography/Medical Ultrasound.
