More than 4,200 hospital employees provide services through an extensive inpatient and outpatient network, including Jeff Gordon Children's Center, Hayes Family Center and Batte Cancer Center, part of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute.

Atrium Health Cabarrus has 17 Operating Rooms. We perform approximately 1050 cases per month. We perform general surgery, orthopedics, including ortho trauma, OBGYN, Urology, Vascular, Neuro/Spine, robotics, cardiothoracic, Cardiovascular, ENT, plastics, and eyes. Our Operating room is known for its hospitality and family atmosphere.

JobSummary:

Appliessurgicaltechnology skills toassist inprovidingpatientcareinthe surgical suitewhilemaintaining a safework environmentandperformingall related job responsibilities.Ensuresqualitypatient careduringtheoperativeprocedureand is constantlyonvigilformaintenanceof the sterilefield.

Essential Functions:

  • Possesses athorough knowledgeofaseptictechniqueand itsapplication.
  • Assists inobtainingandorganizing suppliesand instrumentsprior,duringandafter surgicalprocedure.
  • Assists Registered Nurse circulatorinpreparationofpatient,assemblyof supplies, instruments,equipmentandproperdispositionofall specimens;assistswithallaspectsof roomturnover.
  • Performsdutiesaccordingtodepartmentpolicyandprocedure.
  • Monitors surgical suppliesfor sterilityprior touseandensuresthatsuppliesareusedin a judiciousmanner,chargesaredocumented/submittedaccuratelyandappropriately.
  • Monitors anddocuments sterilizationactivities for completion.
  • Attends in-services/staff meetings;exhibits knowledgeofcurrentdepartment related issuesandparticipates inPerformanceImprovement Proces
  • Participates ineducationalopportunitiesto increase competencyand meetpersonalneedsandgoals.
  • Assists inthedevelopmentofpolicies,procedures,and standards.

Physical Requirements

Workswithoccasional intermittentnoiseandexposureto conditions suchasdust, fumes,andchemicals. Abilityto communicationandwrite. Strenuousphysicaleffortwill requirewalking, stretching,bending, climbing stairs, twisting,and squattingorkneelingwhileperformingtasks.Mayhave lengthyperiodsof standing. Requiresfrequentuseof sidevision, lifting,pushing,andpulling. Mustbeabletoliftandsupport theweightof

35pounds. Useofbothhandsandallfingersand is requiredtousehandsforgripping, speedwork andprecisionduringtheoperationequipment/instrumentsandmovement/positioningof surgicalpatients.Visionandhearingfordistancesofup to twenty20 feet is required,depthperceptionandabletodistinguishbasic colors is required. Abilitytowork forlengthy,orirregularwork hours, rotating shifts,workingon hard surfaces,beingnearmovingequipment, changes intemperature,humidity,andexposuretoBloodBornePathogens.

Education,Experienceand Certifications

HighSchool Diplomaor GED required. Current BasicLife SupportforHealthcare Provider required. Graduateofanaccredited schoolof surgicaltechnology required or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist. Current certificationpreferred.
