HOW YOULL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

Given our vision, the Enterprise CNE of Advocate Health must be a strategic and transformational leader for the enterprise, driving change within a complex, rapidly changing environment with cost and operating model pressures. The executive plays an integral role in delivering on the organization's Strategic and Operational Priorities.

Serving as a member of the CEO cabinet, the CNE oversees the enterprise nursing organization. This executive provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing, and other designated patient care functions and services of the healthcare system in alignment with the enterprise strategy and operating model. Responsible for assessing planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice for all regions across Advocate Health. Accountability for ensuring high quality, safe and effective nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and efficient resource management. Facilitates the design and implementation of patient care delivery, recommending strategies to improve services, reach established goals, achieve target outcomes, and contributes to profitability including designing and driving transformational nursing ways of working for the future. Oversees the talent lifecycle for nursing staff including creating a work environment that makes Advocate Health the Best Place to Care. Represents all nursing concerns to the board and Advocate Health leadership.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Board/Committee Governance

2. Enterprise Nursing Strategy and Innovation: Collaborates with system nursing clinical and administrative leaders to develop and implement a vision that includes coordinating safe, quality patient care and nursing practices that supports the overall system strategy and optimizes system resources. Aligns multiple system facilities and diverse constituencies under a common vision and mission related to nursing practice. Implements nursing strategic and operational initiatives that ensure the organization maintains national prominence.

3. Nurse Liaison and Ambassador: Internal and external to the community and enterprise, serves as the key liaison between nurses, physicians, and other organizational leadership.

4. Quality, Patient Safety Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluates existing care models and workflows; serves as a change agent to ensure effective, efficient, patient-centered care. Establishes and maintains scalable systems for developing and maintaining evidence-based practices. Contributes to the development and implementation of the enterprise's high reliability patient safety programs. Identifies, mitigates, and takes action to correct areas of risk/liability in patient care. Collaborates across disciplines and departments to address serious safety concerns.

5. Operations Financial Management: Oversees enterprise nursing operations and performs ongoing assessment for operational excellence and financial performance of Advocate Health nursing.

6. Nursing Talent Management: Oversees the effectiveness of nursing staff in managing care. Oversees the effective recruiting, onboarding, performance, engagement, development, recognition, and retention of nursing staff. Ensures staff is clinically competent and trained on their role in patient safety, performance improvement, and risk management.

7. Patient Experience: Collaborated with patient and consumer experience to drive strategy and action across the continuum resulting in care that is superior in quality, safety, and experience and evidenced by meeting/exceeding Advocate Health and national benchmarks.

WHAT YOU NEED:

License, Certification:

1. Active and current registered nurse license in the state of NC, IL, or WI is required.

2. Current CENP or NEA certification preferred.

Education, Professional Development:

1. Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration or MBA required. If graduate degree is not in nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; and

2. Doctorate in Nursing or in related field required. (**Degrees in process considered.)

Work Experience, Skills Abilities:

1. Typically requires 15 years of management experience in nursing and health care administration which includes experiences in advancing nursing practices and strategies, driving the integration of services, and directing nursing research and education programs within a large, complex health care environment.

3. Broad and comprehensive knowledge nursing systems, theories, practices, and regulatory standards.
