DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Architect.

The Applications Architect (Technical Architect) leads initiatives for the development of the infrastructure design and technical architecture of complex, multi-system configurations included in all environments. The position designs the integration of hardware, operating systems and connectivity for the target technology solution as well as identifying, and analyzing technical requirements of both internal and external clients.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and maintain/improve the Enterprise Architecture framework.
• Provides architecture design recommendations based on organizations strategy, developing technical architecture and establishing standards and guidelines for the design of technology solutions.
• Develop and present recommendations that best fits business and IT objectives and aligns with strategic road map.
• Identify the hardware and software components the application will use for implementation and provide direction on how to appropriately implement application components using the respective hardware/software.
• Identify how generic application components can be implemented and how those components: persist and make data accessible, maintain transaction integrity and ensure secure access.
• Drive the creation and implementation of architecture standards and artifacts in a complex environment.
• Identify and communicate risks (business, application, technical) associated with component or application implementation.
• Determine where all hardware and software components will be deployed relative to an application.
• Prepare solution architecture deliverables in accordance with enterprise standards and methodologies and consistent with the target business architecture.
• Provide input to the development of project initiation documents, including the definition of objectives, scope, approach and deliverables.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
• Development of high volume, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user systems.
• Defining architectures that satisfy security, scalability, high availability and network management/monitoring requirements.
• Systems engineering techniques such as architecture modeling, alternatives analysis, trade-off analysis, and portfolio analysis.
• Business process modeling and re-engineering.
• Various architecture disciplines like Application, Data, Security and Infrastructure.
• Specifying system performance requirements, network utilization targets, system resource budgets and creating flexible Application Programming Interfaces (API).
• Service Oriented Architecture concepts, web/Restful services, and event-driven architecture.
• Multi-platform development languages and databases.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Experience working within teams utilizing SAFe Agile Framework / Certification.
• Experience with Salesforce PAAS including Service Cloud.
• Experience with Mulesoft and API integrations.
• TOGAF Certification or similar.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
• Bachelor's degree plus 10 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
• Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
