DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Programmer Analyst (Junior Salesforce Developer). This position is responsible for building and customizing Salesforce applications by coding, developing new features, and troubleshooting issues within the platform, primarily focusing on learning advanced Salesforce tools while collaborating with senior developers to contribute to projects that enhance system's functionality and support business requirements.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Write basic Apex code to create custom functionalities on the Salesforce platform. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand project requirements. Design and develop Lightning components.
• Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the lifecycle to identify issues/defects. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within Salesforce applications. Fix bugs or issues within the software.
• Thoroughly review code written by other developers to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security protocols.
• Configure/build new and enhanced functionality in the Salesforce platform using declarative and/or programmatic solutions. Develop customized solutions within the Salesforce platform.
• Continuously learn and expand knowledge of Salesforce platform features and functionalities, Apex coding best practices, and development methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
• Web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST APIs
• Lightning Web Components
• Basic understanding of Salesforce platform and core features and reports
• Salesforce development tools and best practices
• Basic understanding of Apex programming language
• AZURE DEVOPS and Agile Development
• Service Cloud platform and administration

Skills In:
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong problem solving, priority setting, multi-tasking, analytical, and collaboration
• Unit testing

Ability to:
• Work effectively and independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment. Build strong relationships inside and outside of the organization
• Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly
• Write technical documentation
• Develop unit tests and interpret and analyze test results
• Use or maintain testing frameworks, test libraries, databases and test environments
• Develop requirements for applications based on user input and needs
• Learn new technologies

Selective Preference(s):

This ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Bachelor's degree plus 2 – 4 years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).
• Salesforce Certified Administrator. Proficiency with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Any relevant professional certifications. Recent CIS graduates.
• Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
