American Medical Staffing (AMS) puts you first, and we are currently seeking an LPN to join our corrections medical team in Barhamsville, VA. This facility is a program driven local jail with an average daily census of 427 inmates. It is a lower level of custody and there are on average 2 bookings per day. We are looking for a candidate who is looking for a long-term placement. The facility provides security training and a 4-week orientation for all clinicians.

Correctional LPN Job Details:
  • Pay Rate: $36 - $39 per hour
  • Schedule: 10a - 10:30p
  • Available Shift: Swing, 3 shifts per week
  • Start Date: Two weeks from offer
  • Located In: Barhamsville, Virginia
  • Requirements: Qualified applicants MUST have at least 1-2 years of experience, preferably in a corrections or similar setting, have a valid LPN license and be willing to obtain VA and/or compact licensure.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse in a correctional care setting, you'll play a crucial role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to incarcerated individuals, promoting their well-being and rehabilitation. This position works in partnership with a team of correctional staff and allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients under the supervision on RNs or physicians.
  • Monitoring patients vitals and symptoms—administering medication and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed by a physician and monitor for adverse reactions to medications
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing immediate interventions as needed
  • Documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and observations accurately and timely
  • Educating patients on self-care techniques and promoting health education within the correctional facility
