Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring an SMTS Systems Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and tech-inquest of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases. Create automated test plans built using the infrastructure to perform various tests including sanity tests, black box tests, functional tests and regression tests from DUT specifications and interaction with software developers. Reproduce defects and validate defect fixes found during testing, development, or in production code. Provide logs and statistics that will help in further triaging of defects. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Provide feedback to design team on bugs and Design for Testability feature requests. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Integrate automated testing in CI/CD environment. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company systems and products.

Qualifications: Degree required: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:

• C, C++, or Python;
• JavaScript and Shell scripting;
• NGINX;
• Open Cryptographic Framework (OCF);
• Windows or MacOS;
• Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL;
• I2C, SPI, RGMII, PHY, PWM, or RTC; and
• JTAG Debugger, GDB, Logic Analyzer, or Oscilloscope.
