SMTS SOFTWARE SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using effective communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.
THE PERSON:
This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the overall QA strategy and frameworks for testing embedded and GPU-based software products, spanning various hardware and software configurations.
- Evaluate and improve existing QA methodologies, tools, and processes and best practices including automation tools, testing methodologies, test configuration management and performance testing techniques
- Collaborate with software developers, program managers, QA teams and other stakeholders to incorporate their feedback into test strategy and design.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test suites, and test cases that cover functional and non-functional requirements
- Analyze and debug complex failure scenarios in the embedded and GPU software environment, including identification of root causes and implementation of corrective actions.
- Establish and monitor metrics to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA process, utilizing data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide training and mentorship to QA engineers and other stakeholders on best practices, testing methodologies, and tools used in the QA process.
- Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in the embedded software and GPU domain to ensure the implementation of best practices and cutting-edge testing methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations, including ISO, IEEE, and other relevant standards.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field with 12+ yrs of related experience
- Proven experience in a QA Architect or Senior Technical QA Engineer role, particularly in the embedded software and GPU domain.
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes, including test planning, test design, test execution, and defect management.
- Expertise in embedded software process, systems architecture and GPU technologies, including programming skills, such as C, C++ and Python
- Familiarity with various embedded and GPU hardware platforms and wide variety of operating systems(Linux and Windows) variants
- Familiarity with AI / ML frameworks , models and datacenter tools
- Experience with automated testing tools as well as experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines process.
- Expertise with version control systems like Git, and bug tracking tools such as JIRA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to debug and resolve complex issues in software systems.
- Excellent communication , collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the embedded software and GPU domain
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git, and bug tracking tools such as JIRA
- Mentor and train other QA engineers, providing guidance on best practices, tools, and techniques used in the quality assurance process
