THE ROLE:   

AMD's BIOS QA Test Development team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Test Architect Engineer to design, architect and develop test plans for pre-silicon integrate firmware solutions for components in the AMD Server SOC and GPU.  The engineer will be responsible for new firmware test plan deliverables. This includes reviewing firmware requirements from product spec, collaborating with feature validation teams, lead system engineers and other stake holders to explore and develop system level test plan, working with simulation teams to create requirements for simulation support and finally working with test engineering team on creating list of test cases to test the features out. Being successful in developing wholistic test plans will need resolving technical challenges and aligning efforts across engineering teams and business units within AMD. 

 

THE PERSON:   

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to implement detailed test plans for firmware across multiple firmware domains.  The engineer will also be responsible for defining and developing pre-silicon test plans that can be used to confirm the firmware is of the highest quality.  The successful candidate will employ pre-silicon test design methodologies, have deep technical knowledge, and well-honed understanding of system BIOS across multiple FW components to ensure on-schedule planning, defined system firmware test plan development, enabling quality confidence for release of critical firmware development to data center customers. 

 

The engineer will engage as an active team player, leverage AGILE methodologies to drive cross team development, provide leadership to test case developers, and always be ready to take on new challenges.  You will provide technical leadership and guidance to test case development engineers and program managers.  The engineer will drive pre-silicon test plan design reviews, bios QA firmware quality improvements, test plan architectural discussions. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with computer architecture.
  • Experience with power management methodologies and implementation
  • Experience embedded firmware and/or device driver development. 
  • Experience with board, processor, or ASIC bring-up
  • Experience with source control systems such as git. 
  • Experience in hardware/software interfaces
  • Experiences working with RTOS and other embedded OS environments. 
  • 5+ years BIOS/Firmware Test Plan Development experience 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working on server platforms and or GPUs 
  • Experience with DDR, CXL, SPI, eSPI, I2C, LPC, or PCIe, Security 
  • An understanding of test planning and development. 
  • An understanding of microprocessor architecture including memory management units, interrupt delivery, multithreaded development. 
  • Experience with technologies such as Secure Boot, TPM, AES, DES, RSA, AMD Secure Memory Encryption, AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization. 
  • Well versed in software engineering practices. 
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, responding to changing business and technical conditions with minimal direction. 
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal. 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
