THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a Public Relations specialist to manage local PR managers and lead AMD's press engagements across all business lines in the APAC region. The role involves partnering closely with HQ PR segment leads, as well as key stakeholders within business units, sales, and marketing along with the extended agency network.

 

With close relationships across regional press, you will lead the team to support key product launches, momentum and competitive engagements in support of differentiated messaging, driving proactive press engagements, and helping build and support press communities as a part of successfully strengthening the AMD brand and our position as an industry leader enabling the future of high-performance computing.

 

The role will require proactively looking for interview and media engagement opportunities to grow AMD awareness in the region and will ensure a maximum amount of positive editorial coverage in the region's media according to given resources and budget.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to establish trust and credibility and motivate colleagues across the organization. They should be comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding working environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to translate complex technical and business issues into simplified messaging for external press audiences. A passion for technology and the role high-performance computing plays in shaping the future is also important.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cross-functional leadership, customer focus, strategic agility, drives for results & ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Work closely with local team, PR agencies, and stakeholders around the APAC region.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment between internal business units to drive effective, cohesive, and on-brand narrative strategies.
  • Liaise regularly with regional sales and marketing teams and jointly develop communications strategies.
  • Establish and manage press engagement strategy.
  • Work with key industry partners to develop co-operative PR programs.
  • Generate and disseminate locally relevant content to maximize the impact of global product and corporate announcements.
  • Ensure translations and distribution of press releases and other press deliverables in the relevant languages in a timely manner (through an external service provider).
  • Assist with AMD's New Product Review Program (NPRP) for the region and regular review inquiries.
  • Build relationships with tier-one press for tight engagement and alignment in support of AMD media strategies.
  • Organize press events (press briefings, press conferences, media interviews, etc.).
  • Monitor, report, and evaluate press coverage.
  • Obtain the best return from AMD marketing investment according to budget and resources provided.
  • Overall management and leadership of media strategy and activation across the region via best practices.
  • Develop and maintain community and reputation management strategies across the press audience.
  • Drive innovative and ambitious media programs that deliver significant success and competitor advantage in terms of brand loyalty, through highly engaging content.
  • Own and manage PR agencies for reactive strategic and creative activities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES:

  • Proven relationships across regional press.
  • Significant and proven experience in press communication and strategies.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant technology and the ability to build a narrative highlighting technological innovation.
  • Expert knowledge of orchestrating relationships between owned, earned, and paid media.
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility and motivate colleagues across the organization, working collaboratively across the global communications organization while ensuring that PR teams are guided and coached.
  • Comfortable working in a large team with multiple stakeholders, and proven ability to successfully manage change, resolve conflicts, and ensure collaboration within teams and across broader internal stakeholder organizations.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Experience in Public Relations.
  • Non-technical Bachelor's degree, university or equivalent degree, or industry experience.
  • Excellent communications, organizational, and people skills.
  • Fluent English, excellent grammar, and spelling.
  • Excellent technical skills and understanding.
