THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Systems Validation and Debug Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's server product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Server Platform Debug Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

As a PMTS Post Silicon Systems Validation and Debug Engineer, you will drive validation of server SOC latest DFD feature and own end to end system level issues debug found during new product bring up and validation. In this high visibility position, your systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.

 

A successful candidate must be a self-starter with tenacity to independently drive tasks to completion while being highly organized to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams with tight deadlines. He/She must also possess outstanding verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to network, establish relationships and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving technical innovation/enhancement to improve AMD's debug capabilities including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Own defining, enabling and validation of new server SOC debug features including test content creation and execution.
  • Lead and drive complex system level debug efforts across multiple functional teams for both internal and external issues (i.e. customer/partner) to identify root cause and resolution to meet program deliverables and quality criteria.
  • Leading a team of debugger for end-to-end debug of assigned system level issues found during the SOC programs bring-up, validation, and production phases.
  • Coordinate and lead new product brings up.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Exceptionally strong in x86 or other complex CPU architecture
  • Strong understanding of industry standard IO interfaces (DDR, PCIe, CXL, USB, XGbE)
  • 10++ years of experienced is system level debug with exceptionally strong analytical skills and demonstrable experience in design of experiments to solve complicated problems.
  • Possess advanced debug techniques and methodologies with extensive experience in silicon/board/platform-level debugging.
  • Exceptional programming / scripting language (Python) especially in automating debug and validation activities.
  • Extensive experience debugging with common lab equipment including mixed signal Oscilloscopes, protocol/logic analyzers, and JTAG based Debug Tools.
  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems. LPIC-1/LPIC-2 certification is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Server system debug and validation, testing tools and environments is a plus.
  • Ability to structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior management as well as AMD customers.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize, and juggle multiple work streams to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to network, establish relationships and drive effective decision-making across multiple functions and levels within the organization.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering.
