Silicon Design Infrastructure Platform Engineer
THE ROLE:
This is an experienced level position to forecast, budget, and maintain world-class infrastructure resources (engineering compute, storage, etc.) for hardware design flow in a fast-paced production environment on the very edge of modern technology! The goal of our Central CAD team at AMD is to determine a set of standards and techniques for designing chips with the highest performance, lowest cost, and lowest power usage. We then automate these best practices into a software design flow for efficiency and consistency, and work with various design teams to put the software to use in constructing next-generation GPUs, CPUs and APUs with industry-standard EDA software tools.
THE PERSON:
You are a highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, who is passionate about solving problems and reaching goals. You have excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. You collaborate well with others on your geographically distributed team, as well as with other business units.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Roll up the overall resource requirement from different BUs
- Analyze, adjust, and allocate the infrastructure resources based on project priority
- Assist project teams with optimizing their use of compute and storage
- Ready to be backup for other team members' function
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent in project management
- Deep understanding of chip design tools and methodologies
- Proficient knowledge of job distribution system (e.g. LSF) and storage management (e.g. Netapp)
- Proficient knowledge of UNIX and scripting programming skills (Python, Perl, or Linux Shell)
- Proficient knowledge of Linux environments with globally networked file systems
- Experience with version control software (e.g. perforce, git) is desirable
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
