THE ROLE 

 

AMD is looking for a Component PR Manager to support AMD's North America press engagements across key businesses. The role involves partnering closely with our Client and Graphics PR leads, as well as key stakeholders within business units, sales, and marketing. With close relationships across tier one press, you will support product launches, momentum activities, and competitive engagements to land differentiated messages that successfully strengthen the AMD brand and our position as the industry leader enabling the future of high-performance computing.

 

THE PERSON

 

You'll help to build, expand, and support NA press communities and will help drive ongoing, proactive press engagements. With the ability to drive compelling technical narratives, support competitive intelligence, and drive strategic launch and momentum press support, you'll be key to AMD's PR activities across North America, and have global impact, as we position AMD to better engage with global media and create positive experiences that highlight AMD technology and leadership.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Overall support of media strategy and activation for proactive storylines across North America as well as support for regions 
  • Establish and manage press engagement strategy and best practices. 
  • Build relationships with tier one press and influencers for tight engagement and alignment in support of AMD media strategies. 
  • Support cross-functional alignment between internal business units to drive effective, cohesive, and on-brand narratives. 
  • Develop and maintain relationship and reputation management strategies with key press. 
  • Drive innovative and ambitious media programs that deliver significant success and competitive advantage in terms of brand loyalty, through highly engaging content. 
  • Develop editorial calendar for mainstream news across business and technology focus areas, identifying issues in real-time while working across internal teams to respond effectively. 
  • Provide regular stakeholder reports that analyze the success of press engagement activity, tracked to KPIs, and provide recommended solutions for improvement. 
  • Engage with PR agencies to maximize strategic, creative, and reactive activities. 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Proven relationships across North American press and influencers 
  • Significant and proven experience in press communication and strategies 
  • Expert knowledge of client and graphics technology and the ability to build a narrative highlighting technological innovation. 
  • Expert knowledge of orchestrating relationship between owned, earned and paid media 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility and motivate colleagues across the organization, while working collaboratively across the global communications organization  
  • Passion for technology and the role high-performance computing plays in shaping the future. 
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding working environment 
  • Translate complex technical and business issues into simplified messaging for press and external audiences. 
  • Comfortable working in a large team with multiple stakeholders; proven ability to successfully manage change, resolve conflicts, and ensure collaboration within teams and across the broader organization. 
  • Progressive years of professional experience 
  • Strong project management and time management skills with an ability to lead several projects at once. 
  • Up to 25% travel may be required, including international. 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline preferred.

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
