THE TEAM:
The Developer Engineering team consists of enthusiastic programmers, many with game industry experience, who develop tools and technologies that can be used to ease the programming of GPUs for graphics rendering tasks. Members of this team are passionate Software Developers that are driven to the goal of releasing compelling products that will be adopted by game and graphical application developers. These individuals share a belief that technologies that they produce should be open and available to be used on any platform. This is the Open Source tenet of GPUOpen.com where their work is available to download.
THE ROLE:
As a Fellow in the Core Technology Group (CTG), you will be responsible for setting the technical direction for the group, deciding on product architecture in collaboration with other senior team members, and to enable the team to deliver their best work. You will also be responsible for representing game developers internally with other teams at AMD, ensuring that their feedback and requests are well-represented in many facets of AMD's business.
THE PERSON:
As a senior technical leader, you will draw on your broad engineering expertise and your deep understanding of graphics and software development to help set the technical direction for Game Engineering. You will use your broad technical depth to collaborate and innovate with technical staff across the various functions to create innovative solutions to game development problems, specifically in graphics. You are action-oriented and embrace the opportunity to step into a technically challenging, highly dynamic environment where your personal measure of success is highly connected to the outstanding products you help to create.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will partner with stakeholders throughout AMD with the following overall responsibilities:
- Define the technical direction of Game Engineering.
- Support and advise key decision makers in exploring trade-offs, providing data and technical expertise.
- Provide input to other parts of AMD's business as required.
- Lead research activity into cutting edge areas of real-time graphics technology with a focus on game development.
- Collaborate with other engineering groups who are undertaking applied research into ML-assisted rendering technologies within AMD.
- Use feedback from internal and external stakeholders to guide research direction.
- Lead and mentor engineers working on FidelityFX technology, as well as other key deliverables released on GPUOpen.
- Engage with customers of CTG's technology as required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 15+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years working as a technical leader.
- Excellent team management, product management, and organizational skills.
- Understands that requirements are rarely perfect and are willing to extract the spirit of the requirement to make the system or software better.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Is willing to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis.
The following experiences are optional but highly desired:
- GCN / RDNA graphics architecture experience.
- Experience with DirectX 12 and/or Vulkan graphics APIs.
- Game engine or game rendering framework experience.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in Machine Learning, with the ability to successfully create and optimize machine learning models for various applications especially around ML Model Architectures such as CNN, UNet, and so on.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Has a degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent.
