THE ROLE
The Director of Paid Media leads AMD's global media planning and buying strategy across all media channels, including search, social, display, video, and out-of-home. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing AMD's leadership in high-performance, adaptive computing, and AI solutions by fostering strategic partnerships with media companies and collaborating with cross-functional teams across communications, marketing, sales, and business units. Overseeing a global team of paid media managers and managing the relationship with AMD's global media agency partner, this role drives efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation in media investment.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned digital media leader with global experience in complex, matrixed tech environments. They bring a strategic blend of creative vision and data-driven thinking, with a track record of driving ROI through streamlined processes, media consolidation, and improved measurement. A collaborative and solutions-oriented leader, this person thrives in fast-paced settings, influencing cross-functional teams and external partners while championing change and staying ahead of industry trends. Their ability to engage senior leadership, combined with a passion for technology and a deep understanding of content's role in driving revenue, brand growth, and reputation, makes them a critical force in shaping impactful media strategies.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, develop, and implement global paid media strategies across brand, businessunits, and geographies.
• Own and manage the relationship with the global paid media agency.
• Regularly monitor media spend effectiveness, making data-driven recommendations to improve ROI and optimize processes.
• Define and improve media measurement frameworks, focusing on effectiveness and ROI.
• Develop reporting strategies, including KPIs, dashboards, and ROI measurement, and present results to operational and executive stakeholders.
• Drive media spend consolidation, championing the benefits of centralization while building internal understanding and capabilities.
• Serve as the integration point across creative, PR, and media agencies.
• Create and implement keyword research strategies and ad-network strategies to maximize reach, spend, and ROI.
• Stay up to date on SEO, SEM, media, and digital marketing trends and best practices.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Recognized success in planning and executing global digital media strategies.
• Extensive media agency and client-side experience, including leadership of global teams within a matrixed technology organization.
• Expertise in global media buying, including SEM, digital, and paid social.
• Hands-on experience with marketing technology, web analytics, A/B testing, and multi-variate testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Experience developing content strategies; digital asset management experience is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of both B2B and B2C media strategies; B2B2C experience preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
• Demonstrated success in maximizing resources to drive impactful results and efficiency.
• Exceptional written, verbal, organizational, and collaboration skills.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
